Spurs in History - 9th November

9th November, 1988

Blackburn Rovers 1 Spurs 2 (aet) Littlewoods Cup (3rd Round Replay)

Apart from defeating Notts County in the earlier round, Spurs previous victory had been in the League in late September. Six games without a win and four successive League defeats preceded this game.

The first game at White Hart Lane had been scoreless but in the replay Mitchell Thomas gave Spurs the lead but a late equaliser took the game into extra time where Paul Stewart scored a deserved winner, Spurs having shown resilience and determination to progress to the next round where they were drawn to meet Southampton at the Dell.
